The Department of Languages at the Open University will be the coordinating institution. The project will benefit from considerable input from three full time members of staff (Regine Hampel, Senior Lecturer in German, Tita Beaven, Lecturer in Spanish, and Ursula Stickler, Lecturer in German) with one person
(U. Stickler) responsible to the ECML for project coordination.
The Department of Languages has already been cooperating successfully with the VHS Ostkreis Hannover (Martina Emke) over a number of years, recently in the Grundtvig-funded learning partnership LITERALIA.
The UOC (Universitat Oberta Catalunya), the Open University in Catalonia, has an established research link with the Department of Languages, with joint projects in the areas of tutor training and the use of online materials for English as a second or foreign language.
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Zagreb is a new partner for this project and Mateusz-Milan Stanojevic will bring his expertise in the use of the Moodle platform and his knowledge of the training needs of Eastern-European language teachers to the project.
Overall, the geographical spread and diversity in learning contexts of the participating institutions
(i.e. tertiary, adult, continuing education and lifelong learning) will guarantee that a variety of perspectives are taken into consideration when planning and developing training activities.
